The German Florettfechter around Beijing Olympic Champion Benjamin Klebrink (Dusseldorf) are started with a sovereign victory in the team competition in Tokyo. The EM-Second of 2019 prevailed in their kick-off battle without problems with 45:31 against Canada and moved into the Olympic quarter finals. Klebrink, the four-time world champion Peter Joppich (Koblenz) and Andre Sanita (Bonn) are the last hope of the German Fechter-Confederation (DFEB) on a medal during the summer games. In the individual, none of the floret men had returned beyond the secondary finish. In the next round, the trio meets the USA on Sunday morning.
